New Year in Paris

So I was pretty excited to be spending the end of 2015 and the start of 2016 in my favourite city, Paris. I have never been away for New Year before, and with Paris being just a 2 hour train ride from London I couldn't say no to going back there for the 3rd time.

Montmartre and a quick stop at the Eiffel Tower

As we arrived into Paris early afternoon, we wanted to make the most of our day before it got dark. We decided to head to Montmartre, which is my favourite area of Paris. You can wonder around aimlessly with plenty of shops, galleries, bars, restaurants and cafes to choose from. It located on a hill where you can see views all across Paris. We of course paid a visit to the Sacre-Coeur which is at the top of Montmartre and the Moulin Rouge.

We managed to walk to the top of Montmartre and seesunset over Paris which was so lovely. They had some Christmas stalls up so we brought some 'vin-chaud' (mulled wine!) and wondered around being tourists! We stopped of for more drinks then sat on the steps by the Sacre-Coeur watching steet performers and looking out over the views of Paris. We then wondered to a nearby restaurant for dinner, before heading via the Moulin Rouge then on to the Eiffel Tower as our final stop before bed!

Disneyland Paris

So we decided to treat ourselves and booked tickets to Disneyland. I have been to Disneyland in Florida before when I was around 7 years old so was excited to go back and see how it was different in Paris. It was fairly simple to get there we just took the metro and then the RER train. It took just over an hour from where we were staying.

There are 2 parks at Disneyland - Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park. The ticket we had gave us access to both parks which I would recommend. We stayed there all day and even managed to catch a firework show in the evening.

Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elysees, Tuileries and more

NYE at the Champs-Elysées

So we had done some research and found out the best place to go on new year was the Arc de Triomphe on the Champs-Elysées. We walked via the Eiffel Tower on the way there as it was near our hotel, we then went for dinner and drinks before joining thousands of other people in the crowds waiting for the new year countdown! We timed it and well and still managed to get a good spot, which meant we only had to wait about 30 minutes before the light show and the countdown. We carried on drinking, no better way to start 2016!

New Years Day

New years day in Paris was sadly quite dull and foggy but luckily no rain! As our train home was early evening we made the most of our day and went for a walk along the river. We wondered along the river to see the Statue of Liberty before going on to see the seeing the Eiffel Tower in fog!

We went to Chartier for dinner which is a famous traditional french restaurant. I have been there once before but decided not to eat snails this time!

Hope you all had a great new year!
